So finally it has arrived. Verizon Blackberry Q10 US release date is a reality, meanwhile A10 is in pipeline Sporting the much-loved Qwerty-keyboard, the BlackBerry launched its much awaited Q 10, the smartphone running the new BlackBerry 10 operating system, in the U.S. market, following its thumping success in the Canadian market where it was launched in the first phase. The device was launched on T-mobile. Verizon Wireless, which has the exclusive on the white version of the Q10, will have the phone online on Thursday and in stores by Monday. Though AT&T began taking the pre-orders for the phone on Wednesday it has not provided the release date. Sprint maintained that it will carry the phone sometime this summer.
Speaking about the U.S. launch of its flagship device, RIM's chief operating officer, Kristian Tear, said: "I don't regret RIM's decision to release a touch version first, even though it was new territory for the company. Many long-time BlackBerry users prefer a physical keyboard, which has been RIM's strength. It's obviously a larger market size, the full touch. I think it was right to do that No. 1. To get Q10 out now, not too long after, is a good second step. The loyal Blackberry users are eager to upgrade to the Q10, I expect RIM to win back people who had left for rival devices." BlackBerry Chief Marketing Officer Frank Boulben said: "We're convinced there is a significant segment of the market that prefers to have a physical keyboard. We want to continue to serve that segment." With the advent of the full touch screen smart phones, the physical keyboard phones were hardly visible. However, BlackBerry, that built its reputation as an enterprise workhorse, remained faithful to those users who prefer the speed, accuracy and tactile appeal of push buttons. RIM faced a number of delays in updating its operating system with the BlackBerry 10. During that phase it was forced to cut more than 5,000 jobs and saw shareholder wealth decline by more than $70 billion. Unlike the sleek touchscreen-only Z10 that was released in March the Q10 sports the familiar look and feel of a traditional BlackBerry. Q10 is a hybrid that combines a physical keyboard with a 3.1-inch touchscreen. BlackBerry has got rid of the large buttons above the Qwerty keyboard which means that the users will have to use the touchscreen, thus relying primarily on the swipes to navigate around. The phone comes with 16 gigabytes of storage and hass a number of apps pre-loaded including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare and YouTube. The device sports an 8-megapixel rear camera along with several on-board photo editing features, including Time Shift, which enables users to select the best image from a series of moments. BlackBerry that came in 1999 had been the undefeated leader of the smartphone market with until iPhone dwindled its position following its debut in 2007 Shortlink: ![]() via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNHsvsBEvS3FNoYuOEA4s3w8-gthtg&url=http://nvonews.com/2013/06/06/verizon-blackberry-q10-us-release-date-is-a-reality-a10-in-pipeline/ | |||
