China-based computer maker Lenovo launched six new smartphone devices in India on Wednesday, priced between Rs. 8,689 and Rs. 32,999.

"The journey of Lenovo smartphones in India that began last year in November takes a whole new dimension with the launch of six new power-packed mobile devices, which offer an excellent choice for smartphone buyers in India," Lenovo India Managing Director Amar Babu told reporters here.

Each smartphone was designed taking into consideration specific customer needs for the Indian market, he added.

"Our retail footprint has grown to 3,000 retail stores since we launched our first range of smartphones last year. We will continue to expand our reach across India," Babu said.

All the models launched here on Wednesday—A390 and A706 (priced at Rs. 8,689 and Rs. 15,949), S820 and S920 (priced at Rs. 19,599 and Rs. 26,339), the P780 (priced at Rs. 22,529) and the premium K900 (priced at Rs. 32,999)—run on Google's Android operating system.

Lenovo India Director (smartphones) Sudhin Mathur said the company would focus on retailing and increasing its outlets to 10,000 by year-end.
