Lava planning to launch smartphone with gestures support - NDTV

Indian smartphone maker Lava Mobiles is planning to launch a new smartphone under the Iris brand. The company claims the highlight of this smartphone is that it will be capable of understanding 'sign language'.

As per Lava, users will be able to operate the camera, and other features on this smartphone by swipe gestures. This feature sounds much like the Air Gesture feature on the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S4.

The company also claims that this smartphone will run the latest iteration of Android operating system. Just like the other smartphones in the Xolo range, this Lava Iris smartphone too will adopt OGS technology for its display. However, at this juncture the company has not revealed the display size, display type and the processor speed for this smartphone.

The company is planning to release this smartphone in the third week of June.

In the month of March, Lava had introduced a "Phone-a-day Blockbuster" campaign. Under this campaign the company had shared that it will be launching a phone every Friday. So we won't be surprised if Lava indeed launches its new flagship too on June 21, a Friday.

Lava recently listed its Iris 401e smartphone online. It is a dual-SIM budget Android smartphone that costs Rs. 4,249.

The smartphone comes with a 4-inch display with a 480x800 resolution. The dual-SIM phone comes with dual-standby and 2G (EDGE) support. It is powered by a 1GHz processor along with 256MB of RAM. The internal storage on the smartphone is 200MB that can be expanded by up to 32GB through an external microSD card. The device comes with a 3-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and no front-facing camera. It runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3 and has a 1500mAh battery.
