Canada based mobile maker, BlackBerry recently, confirmed on its official India Twitter page that its QWERTY keyboard based Q10 handset is all set to unleash in India soon. The tech firm posed saying, "BlackBerry Q10 is coming to India soon. Stay tuned on our page for all the latest updates!". To make the things more clear, now BlackBerry has already started sending invites for the official launch of BlackBerry Q10 on June 6 in New Delhi.
Unlike the BlackBerry Z10 which is a sleek and a complete touch-based phone, Q10 is more traditional in terms of design but is running on the latest mobile operation system introduced by the company in 2013 - Blackberry 10.
Talking about the specs, the latest upcoming BlackBerry Q10 boasts elegant and efficient gesture controls, easy swipes and smooth functioning along with a responsive operating system.
Based on the legendary keyboard that featured on the BlackBerry Bold, the Q10 offers the same typical keys, but now it comes with 30 percent larger keys. The keyboard has been crafted carefully by well spacing large keys combined with quick swiping action on the 3.1inch super AMOLED display with touchscreen.
Besides, the user experience, BlackBerry Q10 is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A9 processor supported by 2GB RAM, BlackBerry 10 OS and TI OMAP 4470 chipset. Q10 also houses 6GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB via micro SD card and will come equipped with an 8 megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash accompanied by a 2-megapixel front facing camera.
On the connectivity front, the handset includes NFC, Bluetooth, GSM, 4G LTE, GPS, EDGE and GPRS. Eventually the BlackBerry Q10 is powered by a 2,100 mAh battery.
Other features of the handset includes, preloaded apps like BlackBerry Balance, Remember, BBM, Hub and Peek.
Smartprix has listed BlackBerry Q10 at the price of Rs. 43,990. But of course, the price will be lesser when it will get officially released in the market; guesses are around Rs 28,000 to Rs 30,000.
This price will surely bring the device in competition with several other handsets existing in the mid range mobile space. The possible rivals to BlackBerry Q10 are Blackberry Z10, Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3, Sony Xperia SP, Nokia Lumia 920

As far as the specs are concerned, iPhone 5 sports a 4 inch display with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels and the device is powered by Apple A6 dual-core 1.2 GHz processor which is backed by 1GB RAM. The iPhone 5 comes in three variants with 16GB, 32GB, 64GB internal memory and lacks microSD card slot. It features 8MP rear camera with iSight technology along with 1.2MP front camera for video calling. It runs on iOS 6. Regarding connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, 4G LTE, 3G and micro USB 2.0 support. Comparing to the BlackeBerry Q10, iPhone has a lesser processor and a bigger display as this one also is a full touch screen device. Although, it is the most expensive device among others, specwise iPhone has a lesser intensity to compete with the others with quad core processors and lesser prices as well.
BlackBerry Z10
To directly compare the BlackBerry Q10 with the Z10, the first one features BlackBerry's classic physical QWERTY keyboard while Z10, on the other hand, is fully touch-sensitive device, with a super-fast virtual keyboard.
Q10 has a 3.1-inch screen above its physical keyboard and offers a screen resolution of 720 x 720 pixels with a pixel density of 328ppi. Z10 has an all-touch 4.2-inch screen, with a resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels and pixel density of 355ppi, perfect for streaming videos. Its higher resolution provides better contrasts, colors and images compared to the Q10. Both feature a micro HDMI and USB port, power button and metal volume control-button and share a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 2GB RAM with BlackBerry 10 OS. Both share the 8MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing camera along with1080p HD video recording.The Q10 and Z10 each have a 1,800mAh battery. However, the smaller screen of Q10 provides better battery life compared to the larger display of Z10.
BlackBerry Z10 is listed on Infibeam at Rs. 42,490 and to summarize, one can get almost all the features of Z10 in the upcoming Q10 at a lesser price tag, if you are not such a great fan of all touch phones.
Sony Xperia SP
Going by the specs, Sony Xperia SP comes with the 4.6" 16M-color 720p TFT capacitive touchscreen with Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The device runs on Android OS v4.1.2 Jelly Bean platform with the dual-core 1.7 GHz Krait CPU supported by 1 GB RAM and Adreno 320 GPU and Qualcomm S4 Pro MSM8960T chipset. Sony Xperia SP has an internal storage capacity of 8GB that can be enhanced up to 32GB via microSD. Regarding camera the smartphone features 8 MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash along with VGA front-facing camera. The camera has 1080p video recording at 30fps with HDR mode, continuous autofocus and stereo sound. Connectivity options include, 3G with 42Mbps HSDPA and 5.8 Mbps HSUPA; 100Mbps LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct and DLNA; Wireless TV out, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, MHL-enabled microUSB port, Bluetooth v4.0 and NFC.
Sony Xperia SP features accelerometer and proximity sensor along with active noise cancellation with dedicated mic. The device is powered by 2370 mAh battery.
Sony Xperia SP has one of the best features and to compare with Q10, both pretty much have a same configuration. This device is priced at Rs. 24,990 on Flipkart.
Samsung Galaxy S3
Priced at Rs. 27,500 on Flipkart, Galaxy S3 sports a 4.8 inch HD super amoled display protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 2. This phone supports a display resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels. The Galaxy S3 runs on Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich operating system, and now has been upgraded to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by the Exynos 4412 Quad-Core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9 and Mali 400 graphics processor unit, supported by a 1 GB RAM. The phone comes in two storage options of 16 GB and 32 GB and sports a primary camera of 8 megapixel and a secondary camera of 1.9 megapixel.
This smartphone has a better specs with quad core processor and has a full touch display unlike BlackBerry Q10.
Nokia Lumia 920
The smartphone is listed on Flipkart at Rs. 30,990.
To talk about the specs, Nokia Lumia 920, it has 4.5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 along with Nokia ClearBlack technology. The handset is powered by dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz and backed by 1GB of RAM.
Also, the device had 8.7 megapixel camera on the rear with PureView technology and capable of Full HD video capture, and it has 1.3 megapixel front facing snapper that is capable of 720p video recording. The device has 32GB of internal storage without any option of expanding though, and Nokia Lumia 920 is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery to the smartphone.
