ZTE has entered Indian smartphone market as Chinese Prime Minister visits New Delhi. The company has entered into alliance with a Pune based company to sell its handsets in India Leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer ZTE has big plans for India on the occasion of its promising Indian entry. The smartphone manufacturer has a solid base not just in China but in markets across the world and has introduced handsets in all categories including high end handsets, midrange and low end handsets. Its high-end handsets are as good as Samsung and LG's and compete well with other top handsets too. The company has now entered into an agreement with Pune based Calyx Telecommunications to sell, market and service its products in the country. To begin with the Chinese tech giant is launching handsets in both mid-range and low-end categories. The company is set to launch several handsets in price range of Rs 6000-Rs 15000. This means that there will be handsets that will compete directly with Indian smartphone vendors like Micromax, Lava and Karbonn besides other big and small players in the smart-phone market. While talking to the media a few days before the arrival of Chinese Prime Minister, ZTE India CEO Xu Dejun said, "Backed by our strong portfolio and R&D capabilities supported by Calyx Telecommunications strong financing background and distribution channels, we expect to emerge as a key player in the Indian smartphone arena. Globally, ZTE is the 4th largest handset manufacturer and we are certain to strengthen our position in India, which is a key growth propeller for us, contributing to 10% of our overall revenues".
