Renault recalls 7000 Pulse,Scala cars in India - Hindustan Times

French car maker Renault on Tuesday said it would recall more than 7,000 cars in India as a follow-up to a similar exercise undertaken by its partner Nissan just two days ago. The two companies share technologies and sell some of their cars under a cross-badging format.

The voluntary recall pertains to faulty braking that may result in reduced performance. Renault said it will replace the master brake cylinder and brake fluid to all its affected customers free of charge.

"This is a proactive measure as part of our global policy and a follow up to our partner Nissan's exercise last week," said a Renault India spokesperson. "Customers will be contacted by the dealers and an appointment will be fixed. This (replacement) should not take more than 40 minutes."

The recall covers Renault's small-car Pulse and mid-sized sedan Scala. Around 4,180 units of the Scala and 2,836 units of the Pulse manufactured between June 2012 and March 15, 2013 are affected by it.
