The Government's nod to the proposed quadricycle norms has come as a huge boost for Bajaj Auto's quadricycle, the RE60. Bajaj Auto's peers, Mahindra and Mahindra is seriously considering having its own product category as far as quadricycles are concerned. However, that could take a a bit long, reports CNBC-TV18's Sunanda Jayaseelan after speaking to Pawan Goenka, president, Mahindra and Mahindra. The company's Gio, also termed as a four wheeler compact cab will be the vehicle to be worked on to ensure that it fits in the quadricycle norms. The curb weight that has been specified for quadricyles is 450 kg and the company will be working on reducing Gio's weight which now stands at 1,250 kg. This could take about three years. In the meantime, Mahindra and Mahindra will not be working on any new product for the quadricycle category, but will wait and watch the situation. One point of concern that Pawan Goenka, president, M&M raised is that of pricing. As Bajaj hasn't yet declared the price of it RE60, they could draw not only potential three wheeler customers but also the potential four wheeler customers. ![]() via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNF1247w4Lo8NUT2hIyf5yg5t-SIEA&url=http://www.moneycontrol.com/news/cnbc-tv18-comments/mahindramahindra-now-eyeing-quadricycle-segment_882032.html | |||
