Gulshan Rai appointed cyber security chief - Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Union cabinet has approved the appointment of Gulshan Rai, current head of CERT.IN, as the cyber security coordinator. Rai had been tapped for the job some time ago, but the government, in carving out turf for the new job encountered opposition from several ministries, including home, law and telecom.

Sources said, it took them a while to get over the opposition from different wings of the government, who were reluctant to give up authority. Many senior officials had also pitched for the job, which, if properly fleshed out, will be a powerful one, being in charge of the next frontier of India's defences — cyber security.
