Even though Google Glass is not yet on store shelves, Google has released an update for the lucky few who have got their hands on the device. According to a report by Phandroid, the update was sent over the air and dubbed XE5 to owners of the XEB model on Tuesday night. The update has given Glass incoming notifications from Google Plus, including the ability to comment on posts, share directly from Glass, get notifications of +1 mentions and the ability to +1 one posts. Glass will also get Hangout notifications. It seems the new update also comes with a change to the sync policy which requires the device to be plugged in and have WiFi access for any background uploads to take place. This will probably help with the battery life of the device. According to Phandroid some other changes in the update include: • Crash reporting Key specs of Google Glass include: 16 GB storage, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Android requirement of 4.0.3 version Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher, and a 5MP camera that can also shoot video in 720p. However the device is unlikely to hit the stores before 2014. In a recent interview to BBC Radio, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt had indicated that the device won't be out till 2014. He said, "There will be thousands of [Google Glass] in use by developers over the next months, and then based on their feedback, we'll make some product changes, and it's probably a year-ish away."
