Auto major General Motors (GM) India on Thursday said it plans to capture a fair share of the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment, launching its first premium MPV 'Enjoy' in the country.
Unveiling the 'Chevrolet Enjoy' here, GM India Chief Financial Officer Anil Mehrotra said, "The MPV space is one of the fastest growing auto segments in the country, with a size of around 70,000 vehicles. We are expecting to do well in this segment, with our first premium MPV 'Enjoy', which we believe will set new standards in this realm."
"We believe it is the right product for India, and as a new leader in the segment, we expect 'Enjoy' to become very popular in the country," Mehrotra added.
'Enjoy' is not the first MPV from GM's stable in India. The company already sells 'Tavera'. But the former is geared more towards families and is feature-packed, while the latter is more meant for utility.
"Enjoy attempts to set new benchmarks in the MPV space," Mehrotra said. With substantial indigenisation going into its creation, it will be manufactured at GM's plant at Halol, Gujarat.
'Chevrolet Enjoy' is powered by 1.3-litre diesel (1.4-litre for petrol) engine and offers many features even in its base variant. It is priced between Rs 5.49 lakh and Rs 7.99 lakh, across petrol and diesel variants (ex-showroom Delhi).
