The Toyota recall involves the Corolla, Yaris, Avensis Verso, Picnic, and Camry models - as well as the Lexus SC430. The Honda recall includes the Civic, the CRV and the FRV. Worldwide, Toyota, Honda and Nissan are recalling more than two million vehicles. Honda is recalling 15,475 cars in the UK, the majority of which are CRV models built at their Swindon plant between 2002-2003. A Honda spokeswoman said: "In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could be propelled upward toward the windshield, or downward toward the front passenger's foot well, potentially causing injury to a vehicle occupant." The car manufacturer was in contact with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency to trace all the owners of the affected vehicles, the spokeswoman added. Nissan said that 59,058 of its cars sold in the UK are affected by the recall, including the X-Trail, Patrol, Almera, and Navara models. A spokeswoman for Nissan said: "A component supplier, Takata, has reported a potential safety defect in the front passenger air bag inflators in certain 2000-2004 Nissan vehicles, and also vehicles of our competitors. "Nissan is conducting a voluntary safety recall campaign to address the issue identified by Takata and replace the front passenger air bag inflator. Nissan plans to begin notifying customers within 30 days. Nissan dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator at no cost to the customers. "Nissan is committed to a high level of customer safety, service and satisfaction and is working with its dealers to promptly address this issue." ![]() via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNFDb1GS2M9WA_aby5UxWFErlpE_CQ&url=http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/9986367/UK-cars-recalled-over-airbag-problems.html | |||
