Tweet Tips Official Google Glass Twitter App - PC Magazine

Twitter for Glass

With the Explorer Edition of Google Glass now shipping to early adopters, the next step is the release of Glass-specific apps. The New York Times has one, and Google showed off Glass apps for Evernote and Gmail at SXSW. But what about Twitter?

An eagle-eyed developer this week spotted a tweet that suggests the micro-blogging site is already hard at work on a Glass app.

Developer and hacker Jon Gottfried this week noticed a tweet from Shivster Muddler (@MogroothMuddler), who posted an image of a lemon tree Sunday night with the #throughglass hashtag. Next to the time stamp, however, was a note that said it came from "Twitter for Glass."

As noted by TechCrunch, which picked up the story, the account, along with the source message and photo, has since been deleted. But not before Gottfriend retweeted the post.

Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

It may not be too much of a stretch to believe that Twitter is beta testing a Glass-specific application. During the Glass Collective announcement earlier this month, Kleiner Perkins's John Doerr said that Twitter was pondering Glass-specific apps, TechCrunch said.

Gottfried, Twilio's developer evangelist, recently hacked together a Twitter for Glass application, using Google's Glass API. Dubbed GlassTweet, the service lets users bypass Google+ and share photos directly to Twitter.
