Smart TV gets smarter - The Sun Daily

THE Samsung 75-inch Smart LED TV ES9000 is the brand's latest and new flagship TV model aimed squarely at the premium market, promising a TV viewing experience that is worth its price tag.

Recently, theSun was invited by Samsung Malaysia Electronics audio-visual division executives for a first-hand demonstration of the TV's abilities and functions.

At first glance, the ES9000 certainly impresses. Besides the luxurious, premium design, it has several key features that make it stand out.

The first of these is Smart Interaction, a way of fulfilling consumers' requests to have more control over the way they use their TV.
Instead of just pressing buttons on a remote control, consumers can now use motion (hand gestures) or voice control, to turn on their TV, change channels or adjust the volume.

In fact, the remote control itself has also gotten an upgrade to better facilitate the new interaction methods, with the new Smart Touch Remote allowing users to talk to it like a microphone, or use the newly-installed touch pad to navigate across the screen like a mouse.

Users can also look forward to the improved Smart Hub, which has a new interface and more localised apps. It is also compatible with other Samsung devices through Samsung's AllShare Play function.

Samsung users can now treat their TV like their own personal computer, accessing social network sites, playing games, streaming videos and storing and sharing files and images.

The experience is further enhanced with the new Samsung wireless Smart keyboard, an optional accessory that allows users to type while surfing the internet and access functions through one-key shortcuts.

It also has a 2MP camera, which can be used for motion-detection control, facial recognition or video-conference calls. The camera itself has a push-up function, which means it can be hidden when not in use.

The ES9000 is also one of the first Samsung TV models that will be compatible with the upcoming Smart Evolution Kit (to be released by the middle of 2013) – Samsung's way of future-proofing its TVs.

The Smart Evolution Kit is a small box that can be slotted into the back of the TV, acting like an additional piece of hardware. It will work hand-in-hand with future over-the-air software and interface upgrades, providing additional memory to allow the TV to run at its normal pace, without any lag due to increased data.

All of this is coupled with the ES9000's superior picture quality, which improves both 2D and 3D viewing experiences.

Already encased in a stylish-looking exterior – a rose-gold 7.9mm-thin bezel – the TV produces sharper, more detailed pictures thanks to its Micro Dimming Ultimate technology, and its Precision Black panel technology which produces darker black levels of up to 30% compared to other models in its class.

The Samsung 75-inch Smart LED TV ES9000 is priced at RM39,999 and comes with the Smart Touch Remote and two pairs of Samsung Silhouette 3D glasses.
