New Delhi: Luxury car maker BMW India Pvt. Ltd will start assembling the Mini Countryman at its plant in Chennai, the first time the car is being produced outside Europe, lowering the price of the compact car in India by about Rs.10 lakh. It will be priced at Rs.23.50-37.50 lakh, down from Rs.34.20-37.50 lakh. "The vehicles manufactured at BMW Chennai will fulfil the same quality standards that apply to production of BMW Group models worldwide," BMW India said in a statement on Wednesday. The company introduced the Mini brand in India at last year's Delhi Auto Expo. The Countryman is available in two diesel and one petrol variant. BMW India will continue to import the other Mini models, such as the Cooper, the Cooper S and the Cooper convertible, as completely built units. ![]() via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNGLpWO2JvyRSvebrFtmfRdi1Rpyig&url=http://www.livemint.com/Industry/JnAdcoJndzl6bytMYIzcZM/Local-assembly-to-make-BMWs-Mini-Countryman-cheaper-by-10.html | |||
