Google doodle commemorates Leonhard Euler's 306th birth anniversary - Times of India

NEW DELHI: Today Google, the search engine giant, celebrates Leonhard Euler's 306th birth anniversary with an animated Google doodle.

Leonhard Euler (15 April 1707 - 18 September 1783) born in Basel, Switzerland, was a physicist and mathematician whose contribution and discoveries are considered to be significant in the fields of infinitesimal calculus and graph theory.

His area of work included continuum physics, algebra, lunar theory, trigonometry, geometry, infinitesimal calculus. And his work is used as references to explain a large number of topics.

Euler had his early education in Basel. His interest in mathematics was discovered at his early age. Unlike most of the children of his age, he was enrolled at the University of Basel at the age of thirteen, and in 1723, he received his Master of Philosophy.

On 17 May 1727, Euler visited Russia but because of the continuing turmoil he left the country in 1741.

But with the accession of the throne of Catherine the Great the situation in Russia returned to normal, and Euler return to the St. Petersburg Academy in 1766. He continued to stay in Russia the rest of his life.

Today's doodle displays geometrical shap es and mathematical formulae to commemorate Leonhard Euler's 306th birth anniversary.
