A Quadcore phone is no longer out of the reach of the average mobile consumer. Thanks to Micromax and Xolo, users can now own one of these powerful devices for under Rs 15,000. The Micromax A116 Canvas HD was launched for Rs 13,990 last month, while the Xolo A 800 was launched for Rs 12,499 on Sunday. The price tag is certainly attractive, but in terms of specs which are you better off buying? Here is a quick head to head comparison: Processing power: * The Micromax A 116 Canvas is powered by a MediaTek MT6589 1.2GHz quad core processor. The phone also has a PowerVR Series5XT GPU and has 1GB of RAM. According to our sister site Tech2.com, both the CPU and GPU are more than enough to perform everyday tasks smoothly and to run HD games. The device also has 4GB of internal storage and supports microSD card up to 32GB. * The Xolo Q800 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad core processor. It also comes equipped with a PowerVR SGX544 GPU and has 1 GB of Ram. Like the Micromax device, this phone also comes with 4GB internal memory, expandable up to 32GB via microSD cards. Both devices run on Android 4.1 JellyBean. Pretty much an even playing field in this regard. Screen The Micromax A 116 has a 5-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 1280 x 720, while the Xolo Q800 has a 4.5-inch, qHD IPS display with a resolution of 960×540 pixels. So in terms of screen, the Micromax device seems to be ahead. Camera * The Micromax device has a 8MP rear camera with LED flash with night mode and 4x zoom, and VGA front camera * The Xolo device also has a 8MP rear camera, but packs a fairly powerful 1.2MP front camera which is more suitable for video calling and conferencing. Other features: The Micromax device supports Dual-SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi hotspot. It also has GPS with GLONASS and A-GPS and Bluetooth with A2DP while the Xolo device comes with 3G, EDGE, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS support, Bluetooth, and Micro USB support. The big differentiator here seems to be the dual sim feature, though that would be more a personal consumer choice. Xolo Q800 also comes in with a YAMAHA 168 PA music system and comes with features such as 'Shake to change the song' and auto filter in music settings to filter the songs based on their size. ![]() via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNFDYnzyx1cUsxvW854XaSc_4hsYJg&url=http://www.firstpost.com/tech/xolo-q-800-vs-micromax-a116-canvas-battle-of-the-cheap-quadcore-phones-655140.html | |||
