Japanese tech giant Sony is eyeing a tripling of revenues from the sale of Xperia series smartphones in India, which means that the company would garner close to Rs. 3,500 crore from their sale in India during the next fiscal. Sony made its aggressive sales pitch at the launch of its flagship Xperia Z smartphone, priced at Rs. 38,990. “Xperia Z is a water proof smartphone and we are starting our aggressive marketing strategy with its launch,†said Kenichiro Hibi, MD, Sony India. Xperia Z has a 5’’ screen supporting full high definition visual display, 13 megapixel camera and is built on Android 4.1 platform. The phone has quad core processors and 2GB RAM. Xperia Z would compete with Samsung’s Galaxy series, Apple’s iPhones and Nokia’s Lumia series. Hibi said the smartphone market in India is intensely competitive, but “…we have offered cutting edge technology in our smartphones that will help us win over customers.†Smartphone sales in India have been growing at a speed of around 98% and the market is expected to touch 33 million units by the end of next fiscal. ![]() via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNFstIzHsHpaJUIOr9rMCSZE9T6lsw&url=http://www.hindustantimes.com/technology/PersonalTech-Updates/Sony-launches-waterproof-Xperia-Z-smartphone-in-India-for-Rs-38-990/SP-Article1-1022287.aspx | |||
