Samsung Galaxy S4: leaked screenshots claim to show new smartphone - Telegraph.co.uk

It is not known exactly what new technology will be used for the feature.

Eye-tracking systems have been in development for a while, and the S III has a feature called Smart Stay, which uses its camera to tell whether a user is looking at the screen - in which case it keeps the phone lit, rather than allowing the light to dim.

Earlier this year Samsung made trademark applications for the names "Eye Scroll" and "Samsung Eye Scroll", suggesting in the documents it filed that the feature could be used for smartphones, tablets and digital cameras, according to Bloomberg.

When the S4 is unveiled, it will be the first US launch of Samsung's flagship Galaxy phone in three years, as Samsung looks to step up competition in the crucial US mobile phone market.

The new Galaxy S model is expected to feature a higher-resolution display and camera than its predecessor, as well as a faster quad-core processor, various reports have said.

It is not know whether a photo purporting to show the S IV, which was leaked in January, really shows the new phone.

The image, leaked by the website SamMobile, shows only minor cosmetic differences to the Galaxy S3.
