Rick Costanzo takes over from Sunil Dutt at BlackBerry India - exchange4media.com

Sunil Dutt has put in his papers as Managing Director of BlackBerry India after a stint of more than one and a half years.

Talking to exchange4media, Varghese Thomas, Director, Corporate Communications, BlackBerry India said, "I confirm that Sunil Dutt has left his position as Managing Director, BlackBerry India with immediate effect. We wish Sunil well for the future. In the interim, Rick Costanzo, Executive Vice President, Global Sales, will take over the leadership of the talented management team in India as we start the search for a new sales lead."

He further said, "India is an extremely important market for BlackBerry and our aim is to continue to build on our recent momentum with the launch of Blackberry 10."

Dutt is an industry veteran with 29 years of extensive experience in the Indian mobile technology and telecom sector. Prior to BlackBerry, Dutt had worked with Hewlett Packard India Sales Pte Ltd as President, Personal Systems Group, where he was responsible for expanding their business in the enterprise, mid-market and consumer space. He has also worked in senior positions with companies such as Samsung India Electronics, Nokia India, Whirlpool India, Wipro and Philips India.

Costanzo has been associated with Research in Motion for the last 12 years. He had joined as Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe and worked for 10 years to develop the management team, expanding the relationships in the region. In 2011, he was elevated to Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director, Americas and currently he is working as Executive Vice President, Global sales and Regional Marketing.

Prior to RIM, Costanzo had worked with Unitel in various senior positions.
