HYDERABAD: For the first time, a city court has sentenced 23 persons to three-day imprisonment for driving in an inebriated condition. During a special drive against drunken driving on Friday and Saturday nights in the city, traffic police had booked cases against 318 persons, including 235 two-wheeler riders and 73 four-wheeler drivers. After counseling at the Traffic Training Institute (TTI) at the Goshamahal stadium, police produced them before III Metropolitan Magistrate BC Rayudu on Tuesday. The magistrate has sentenced 23 persons, whose blood alcohol level was very high, to three-day imprisonment. The remaining persons were made to pay a fine of Rs 2,000 each.
