SOUTH KOREAN PHONE MAKER LG is continuing to preempt Mobile World Congress, unveiling its Optimus F5 and F7 smartphones ahead of this year's mobile technology show in Barcelona. Coming just days after LG announced its L Series II smartphones, the LG Optimus F5 and F7 handsets are the firm's latest LTE phones. The LG Optimus F5 most likely will be the cheaper of the two. It features a 4.3in IPS touchscreen and comes powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and Google's Android 4.1 Jelly Bean mobile operating system. It also has 5MP and 1.3MP cameras, 8GB of internal storage and a 2,150mAh battery. The LG Optimus L7 narrowly avoids 'phablet' territory with its 4.7in IPS touchscreen, which also comes with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Improving on its F5 sibling, there's also an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 2,540mAh battery. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG said, "LG continues to lead the industry with 4G LTE innovation and the Optimus F Series, a well-balanced an well-equipped 4G LTE smartphone for the mass market, embodies the best of our broad LTE patent portfolio and innovative UX features. "With adoption of LTE expected to explode in 2013, we are sending a clear message to consumers with the Optimus F Series that LTE isn't just for heavy content users and techies anymore. It's for everyone." Although LG is keeping quiet on release date and pricing details, the firm has said that the Optimus F5 and F7 handsets will be released here in Europe. It seems likely they will be snapped up by mobile operators following yesterday's announcement of the results of the UK 4G auction. LG also said that these two smartphones will be on display at MWC, so check back next week for our hands-on impressions. ยต via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNEJUfND2bCctAUadjTXnYyTckSMbg&url=http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2249597/lg-announces-its-optimus-f5-and-f7-smartphones-with-4g | |||
