Harley owners come together to celebrate 110th anniversary - Hindustan Times

Over 500 Harley-Davidson owners roared down highways across the country to join an epic celebration in the heart of Goa to mark the beginning of the global year-long 110th anniversary celebrations of the iconic motor-bike, a company official said. Karen Davidson, creative director for Harley-Davidson General Merchandise and great grand daughter of Harley-Davidson co-founder William A. Davidson, was also present at the event. Karen's father Willie G. Davidson recently retired after 49 years with the company and is now Harley-Davidson's Chief Styling Officer Emeritus. Her visit marks the first by a 'Davidson' family member to India. "Harley-Davidson is not a brand that belongs to any one generation or culture. It's a brand that creates intense passion among freedom-minded, adventure-seeking individuals of all ages across the world," she said. "It is with great pride that we welcome Karen Davidson to India. The rally marks a key milestone for leisure riding in India, with our customers riding in from across the nation to honour the bond they share with each other and the brand," said Anoop Prakash, managing director, Harley-Davidson India. Commenting on her maiden visit to India and the 110th anniversary celebration, Karen Davidson said: "I am thrilled to be here riding in Goa to mark the beginning of Harley-Davidson's 110th year.  "It's always a pleasure to meet and ride alongside Harley-Davidson owners, and the level of passion and enthusiasm among India's HOG members is remarkable." During the event, Harley-Davidson India invited several Harley Owners' Group (HOG) members, who had clocked the most kilometres in 2012 from each of the eight HOG chapters to wear the Freedom Jacket. The jacket is adorned with emblems and patches from its journeys all over the world since August. After Goa, the jacket will travel to each of the remaining 110th year celebrations this year.
