Arindam Chaudhuri, honorary director of the IIPM Think Tank at Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) on Saturday slammed UGC and AICTE organizations and said in his twitter account that 'the standard of education they have created in the nation is shameful'. He tweeted: "As far as satire sites are concerned, I neither have any objections on any non-defamatory satire, nor would I have filed anything against them were I to do the same personally. In a democracy, satire is basic freedom of speech. However, I am glad that defamatory links that had been put up with a malicious intent have been ordered to be removed, as should be the case in any functional democracy.""The Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) and its is embroiled in yet another controversy as the government has directed Internet Service Providers to block over 73 URLs carrying defamatory articles about the private business school and its chairman Arindam Chaudhuri. These URLs include a University Grants Commission (UGC) notice on the unrecognised status of IIPM. Arindam Chaudhuri has hit out at the UGC. In his response to the blocking of the URLs, Arindam Chaudhuri said, "Glad that defamatory links put up with a malicious intent have been ordered to be removed. UGC and AICTE are organizations full of bribe-seeking corrupt officials. Standard of education they (UGC) have created in the nation is shameful. IIPM is proud to have no affiliation with them (UGC). Hundreds of institutions which have nothing to do with UGC; then why aren't they issued notices?", he also tweeted. IIPM's official response (from Prof Arindam Chaudhuri) on the order to remove defamatory links can be read here: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/l298n5 Earlier on Thursday, ordered by a court in Madhya Pradesh, the government directed internet service providers (ISPs) to block 73 URLs for carrying 'defamatory' articles about IIPm and its chairman Arindam Chaudhuri.
