New figures from ABI Research show 50 per cent of all handset shipments will be smartphones by next year, while some 2.4 billion smartphones will account for 69 per cent of the sector by 2018, indicating the devices are the future for the majority. Apple is demonstrating to the market that LTE is not the only reason to buy a premium handset."
