JLR to start assembling XF salon in India - Livemint

Mumbai: Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India, the local arm of the British luxury car maker, will begin assembling the XF salon in India, the company said on Monday.

The local assembly will make the model cheaper by Rs.3-5 lakh, vice-president Rohit Suri said in an interview on 19 January.

The XF is the second JLR model after the Freelander 2 to be assembled at the company's factory near Pune. JLR sold 2,393 units in India in 2012, up 32% from the year earlier.

Aided by new models, the luxury marque owned by Tata Motors Ltd has been expanding sales at a brisk pace globally.

The Jaguar product range in India includes the XF, XFR, XKR, XKR-S and XJ. For Land Rover, the product range includes the Freelander 2, Discovery 4, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Sport and a new Range Rover version.

Tata Motors shares were trading 1.31% lower at Rs.323.80 each at about 12.30pm on BSE Ltd on Monday, while the Sensex was up 0.20% at 20,078.83 points.
