INTERNET SEARCH AND ADVERTISING FIRM Google is planning a London office move that will see it close two offices and move into one to create a single large working complex.

It's a big move according to the BBC and it follows the recent opening of new offices for the firm in the London postcode.

The BBC report says that a £1bn property deal has seen the firm acquire a 2.4 acre site in King's Cross where it plans to build a complex of two buildings, one with seven floors and another with 11 floors.

"This is a big investment by Google. We're committing further to the UK, where computing and the web were invented," said Google's VP for northern and central Europe, Matt Brittin.

It is just a building site for now, and Google apparently is planning to start construction in the latter half of this year.

Judging by its previous efforts Google's new London office complex will be a rather nice place to work.

According to Fortune Magazine, Google is already seen as a jolly nice place to spend your days. The magazine placed it at the top of its list of 100 best companies to work for.

"The Internet juggernaut takes the Best Companies crown for the fourth time, and not just for the 100,000 hours of subsidized massages it doled out in 2012," said Fortune.

"New this year are three wellness centers and a seven-acre sports complex, which includes a roller hockey rink; courts for basketball, bocce, and shuffle ball; and horseshoe pits."

Google also held the number one position in the list last year. Second in the list is data analytics firm SAS, and another information technology firm, Netapp is sixth. ยต
