Ford EcoSport Bookings Temporarily Suspended By Dealers - Motoroids

Ford-Ecosport-India-Bookings

There is no denying that the recently launched Ford EcoSport is among the most successful cars from Ford India ever. There is also no denying that Ford India dealerships across the country have been finding themselves swarmed with people wanting to put their money on the new baby crossover. All this has ensued that the demand has become several times more than the supply and the manufacturer is finding itself incapable of meeting the huge demand for the new EcoSport. In lieu of all this, many Ford India dealers have suspended the bookings for the EcoSport. Bookings for all the variants of the Diesel powered EcoSport have been stopped and it is being said that bookings for the top end EcoBoost petrol variant too have been suspended at some dealerships. Bookings for the 1.5 litre petrol engine-d variant, however, continue unaffected.

This doesn't come across as too much of a surprise, what with ever climbing waiting periods? The increasing waiting period does not just make the buyer wait for months before he takes delivery of his/her car but also puts off many potential customers, thereby translating into a loss for the manufacturer.

The Ford EcoSport is on sale in India in as many as three engine variants:

  • The base engine variant sports the same 1.5 litre normally aspirated petrol engine that powers the Fiesta.
  • The second petrol engine variant is powered by the much hyped Ford EcoBoost 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine.
  • The third engine variant, and the one that is obviously the most popular, is powered by the Fiesta's 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine.

The Ford Ecosport in India is being sold in four trim levels- Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium Plus. The Titanium variant is available only with the 1 Liter EcoBoost turbocharged petrol and 1.5 Liter Ti-VCT petrol engine. The Titanium trim level brings along 6 speed PowerShift dual clutch automatic transmission for the 1.5 liter Ti-VCT petrol.

The latest development comes to light soon after Ford India's MD Joginder Singh commented that the manufacturer would meet any demand for the EcoSport.
