At the Tizen Developer Summit, new features of the Tizen OS 3.0 version were announced. The Handheld Blog posted details and images slideshow mentioning the features of the Tizen OS 3.0 version.
The Tizen 3.0 update brings 64-bit architecture, 3D user interface framework and multiple user account support. There is still no clarity on the first smartphone bearing Tizen mobile OS.
The open source mobile OS -Tizen is being steered by Samsung and Intel together. At the Tizen Developer Summit, a snapshot of the roadmap was given along with a quick list of features that can be expected in the Tizen 3.0 OS update.
Apple boasted of the 64-bit architecture support in the iPhone 5s earlier this year. Now Tizen OS is working hard to follow the suite with 64-bit architecture support along with performance improvements, large memory address space and support for ARM chips. The Tizen 3.0 update will mostly bring the updated Core OS and ToolChain, mostly relevant for the developers.
The update will also bring new 3D user interface framework and dynamic animation library - so expect some cool animations and interface eye-candy.
The public release of the Tizen 3.0 OS is scheduled for third quarter 2014 while the first Tizen phone is rumored to arrive in February 2014. Samsung offers the Samsung NX300M, a smart camera powered by Tizen OS in Korea.
