Domestic SUV heavyweight, Mahindra & Mahindra are all set to introduce a new, but lower priced variant of their highly acclaimed XUV500. This model is expected to be introduced by end of this fiscal and will come in to boost company sales in an otherwise slow-moving and lack luster market. The decision to launch this lower variant is following customer feedback, which the company has been receiving ever since they have launched the XUV500 in 2011, reports Economic Times. Apart from this, Mahindra's Dr Pawan Goenka has also revealed that a new car, based on Verito Vibe platform will be introduced over the next 12 months. XUV500 is presently offered in a range of three variants, in a price range of INR 12.13 lakhs to INR 14.77 lakhs. The SUV has proved its popularity following a total of 63,000 units sold thus far in a matter of 20 months. During May 2013, M&M has sold 2,200 units of the XUV500, which is a decline as the capacity is at 4,500 units monthly. This is mainly due to the introduction of new SUV, Renault Duster, which is offered at a comparatively lower price bracket, and decline in car sales.
